Wednesday night was the first photoclub meeting of 2010 and it was our biggest yet. We had a night shoot/workshop with John & Kenzie of Kenzie Shores Photography bringing their ‘Guerrilla’ style of night shooting for everyone to see and Briana and I (Divine Light Photography) put on a mini-workshop on ‘Light Painting’ using long exposures and creative off-camera-lighting.
The night went amazing with over 40 photogrpahers in attendance, more than we had expected. Our 3 models had a blast as well.
Here are a few of the first photos we’ve seen as photographers who attended are posting them to their blogs and facebook pages. Enjoy!
(this first and 3rd photo were taken by Mike of Life Long Studios. I put our logo on it by mistake. Just wanted to say)

Last night was the show/critique for our shoot out at last month’s meeting and only the photographer who attended the shoot were invited to attend and judge. It was an amazing time getting to see what everyone came away with and what comments went along with the photos.
The guidelines for the shoot were this: Every photographer got 5 minutes with each of the two models. They could shoot anywhere at the lcoation and the clock started when the first shutter popped. Each photographer could then pick one image that they felt was their best of the day and do any necessary edits to bring to the crit last night. This was done to simulate the pressure and time constraints of an actual wedding day when time is in short supply and a quality photograph is what you need. This was great because the only person responsible for the lighting, posing and direction was the photographer who was shooting, noone else.
Everyone involved loved this process and it will be the way we run shoots in the future as it was a ton of fun and produced some amazing results.
Last night we all go thte chance to grade each image on 3 citieria before knowing who the photographer for the image was. The criteria were Direction/Posing, Style and technical abilities and each criteria was graded on a scale of 1 to 5. It was great because it was annonomys so everyone could judge honestly. It was also good because it was a group of photographers doing the judging so it really means alot for the the top images.
So, without further delay, below are the images in the order they placed. Enjoy.
